GERMAN IMMERSION
FAMILY CHILD CARE
IN ENCINITAS,CA

Baumhaus Kinder Center is a high quality German immersion Family Child Care in North County San Diego. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment, where your child can grow and blossom. We focus on the development of the “Whole Child”, by emphasizing play-based learning, social & emotional development,
and mindfulness.
Our approach is influenced by European early childhood methodologists, such as Rudolf Steiner, and includes many aspects of the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches, which together provide the most valuable and rich learning
environment for children.

Our Center

The moment you step into Baumhaus Kinder, you will feel the warmth and natural environment that makes you immediately calm and peaceful, which is also crucial for your child’s development and overall wellbeing. Our center is clean and organized and we teach children how to respect each others work space, take care of their and others belongings, and to be grateful and appreciative. We believe in using high quality wood and natural (non-toxic) materials and will be incorporating experiences such as yoga and mindfulness lessons each week. Our vision is to invite a special guest every month, such as a local musician or artist that will introduce the children to their music, art, movement or mindfulness practice. Our days are mostly spent in our beautiful outdoor space, where we can be close to nature, get messy in the mud kitchen, climb up the treehouse, do yoga on the grass, and so much more.

Our Philosophy

Young children learn best through play, hands-on activities, social interactions, and exploration. Our goal for each child is to develop their natural curiosity and desire to learn through open ended play, music, movement and art, which will lead to the lifelong love of learning. We provide new experiences that help your child discover their passions and interests and maximize their growth. The daily exposure to the German language is not only beneficial to our German speaking children and families, but will have a positive impact on all children. It is a common value in Waldorf and Montessori approaches to allow children to be actively involved in daily tasks and contribute by helping out. Therefore, children at Baumhaus Kinder are encouraged to help with cleaning up, preparing snacks, and help each other out throughout the day. We believe it is important that children learn these basic skills early on to support their self-esteem and to provide the sense of achievement and community.
Baumhaus Kinder Center values parent involvement and our goal is to build a nurturing German immersion community. We celebrate all major German and American holidays and traditions and welcome parents to participate and support us throughout the school year.

German Immersion

Baumhaus Kinder is a bilingual program introducing your child to another language and improving or expanding your child’s existing German language skills. Our morning will start with free play where the children have the freedom to use the language they prefer. Throughout the day, the teachers will primarily use German to communicate and instruct lessons and English only if the child is not fluent in German and to support comprehension. Exposing your child to a second language promotes cognitive and social benefits that will last a lifetime and puts your child at a significant advantage. Our goal is not simply to introduce children to the German language, but we also want children to learn to respect and value any other cultures that are different than their own. Diversity and inclusion is very important to us and it is one of our core values at Baumhaus Kinder.

OUR TEACHERS

  • Klaudia Hochfilzer

My passion for working with children was always present, but I didn’t start my Early Childhood Education before my move to San Diego in 2016. I am originally from Austria where I visited a music high school, and from there continued my education and graduated at a Tourism college. When I moved to San Diego I became a certified early childhood teacher, worked as a preschool teacher, and I will soon be completing my Master Teacher in Early Childhood Education. Being a mother of two wonderful children made me appreciate this beautiful early developmental stage even more. My vision has always been to create a bilingual preschool and community that we as parents and our children can experience together . Baumhaus Kinder delivers a warm and natural European approach to early childhood education and incorporates what I believe are some of the best parts of Waldorf, Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches to teaching.

  • Jennifer Carqueville

I am a native German speaker and grew up in Vienna, a lovely city in Austria. I started exploring my passion for teaching as a Communication Trainer for Bachelor students at a university in Vienna and I received my Masters degree in business. In 2019 I moved with my American husband Dan and our dog Sunny from Austria to beautiful San Diego. That is where the teaching of Yoga and German as a Lead Teacher in a play-based German immersion preschool began. I guide the children with a whole-child and emergent curriculum approach. Everything that I consider very valuable for the development of children is embedded in the mission of Baumhaus Kinder. Our principles are completely aligned. I am excited to create magical moments for our little ones and build a community together with Klaudia.

“Before children speak, they sing.
Before they write, they paint.
As soon as they stand, they dance.
Art is the basis of human expression.”
